Eva Havrdová is a professor of neurology at the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague. Dr. Havrdová is employed as the head of the Centre for Demyelinating Diseases of the Department of Neurology, General University Hospital in Prague 2. She graduated in 1981, went on to specialize in neurology, and her professional focus encompasses multiple sclerosis and related diseases.
Dr. Havrdová is interested particularly in neuroimmunology, in the treatment of multiple sclerosis and its early and malignant forms. Dr. Havrdová has contributed to availability of biological therapy for patients in the Czech Republic, not only through her research in neuroimmunology, but also in pharmacoeconomics. She has helped to develop the network of fifteen Czech MS centres.
Dr. Havrdová organizes workshops and training courses in multiple sclerosis. Her centre is a research site of international importance with extensive scientific international collaboration.
Abroad, Dr. Havrdová is a respected expert; she is a member of the Scientific Committee ECTRIMS and Medical Advisory Board MSIF. In the Czech Republic, she is a member of the Czech Neurological Society Committee, Czech Medical Association of J. E. Purkyně, and chair of the Multiple Sclerosis Working Group of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. She is the author of Standary diagnostiky a léčby roztroušené sklerózy a neuromyelitis optica (Standards for the diagnosis and treatment of multiple sclerosis and neuromyelitis optica; 2012, upgrade 2015).
Dr. Havrdová has written several books for specialists and patients with multiple sclerosis and dozens of scientific publications including the priority concept of long-term remission in MS.
